Taking your boat out for a spin can be a fun and enjoyable pastime with the smell of the sea air, the rush of wind in your face and the peace and quiet of being on the water. Before you head out on your journey however, it is a good idea to make sure you have your replacement marine parts for your vessel stored away. Planning a trip out on the water may sound fun, however, getting stuck in the middle of the water isn’t.
Take food and water
When traveling out onto the water make sure that you stock your boat with enough food and water to last a week. Many people might think that this is excessive, but the golden rule says, if you don’t have it you will need it. The one good thing about doing this is that you can always take it off the boat and eat it at home.
Batteries will be a lifesaver on the water. Walkie Talkies are run off of batteries. If you find yourself stranded, you can use these to communicate with someone. Also, batteries will be used on a wide assortment of other parts of the boat. Make sure that they are fresh and of every size you need.
File a travel plan
Make sure people know where you are going and when you will be back. Tell them the route you will take and if something goes wrong, they will be able to come look for you. Set up a rescue protocol. When taking your boat out tell others when to start looking for you. If you say you are not back by eight at night and midnight rolls around, then people should start to get worried. If you tell them by ten the next morning the same should ring true.
