El Puertillo is on the northern coast of the municipality of Arucas, next to the Bañaderos district. It owes its name to its “Puertillo” (small port), with seafaring activities related to fishing and salt mines along the coast. The seafaring tradition of the district is manifest in the name of most of its streets. Its main thoroughfare is Paseo Miramar, at the entrance to Bañaderos, connecting the natural beaches of Los Charcones and El Puertillo, the latter of sand. From this corner to the area known as Las Coloradas, there is a promenade bordering the coast, very popular because of the refreshing sea breeze.

But when this area is at its best is at dusk, when the Gáldar Mountain stands out against a red sky, and in the distance, we observe the pointed and majestic silhouette of the Teide mountain.
