Vista del HinojalThe name of El Hinojal is derived from “hinojo”, the Spanish word for fennel. It is a widely spread out rural settlement on the north-western base of the Arucas Mountain, next to the Los Palmitos ravine. It was originally a group of houses associated to the agricultural activities performed in the area. There are thirty-odd homes, some of them of considerable architectural value (with special emphasis on traditional Canary Island and neo-classic styles), and the best known of all is the house known as “Casa de Los Quesada”, inspired by the architecture typical of southern France.

It is still a largely agricultural area, and includes large banana plantations.
